"Second Star to the Right"
Second Star to the Right is Lindquist’s long-form writing debut. It is a three-act play originating in 2022. It has been produced by Emerson Stage as their Rod Parker selection for NewFest 2024 season.

Second Star to the Right turns the story of Peter Pan that we know on its head. Captain Hook, formerly Aunt Corra to three kids, is lured to Neverland by Pan’s charm and figures out the secrets of the island. Plagued by the death of one of the children she nannies, she gathers help from the fae and mermaids to take down Peter Pan once and for all but falls short and barely escapes his wrath, losing a hand in the process. With the Darlings’ arrival, the tide will change for everyone.
The play takes inspiration from the original story of Peter Pan (written by J.M. Barrie 1911), Hook (produced by Amblin Entertainment 1991), and Once Upon a Time (ABC 2011). It depicts a darker turn of the story than the conventional one known and loved – one where Peter Pan kills the lost children that want to go home and where Tinker Bell is a tyrannical queen hoarding fairy dust and keeping a strict authoritarian regime.

In this, Captain Hook is a nanny for three children: Claudette, Silas, and Theodore. She’s lured into Neverland by Peter’s promise of royalty and marriage, but quickly finds out the truth about what was happening through two Fae. As she tries to get her kids to remember their lives back home, Peter commits a heinous act that sends her into immense amounts of grief.

Act two begins the rise of Captain Hook: the friends she made, the rise of her army, and eventually the loss of her hand. The final act follows the story of Disney’s Peter Pan with an ending not unlike the fate of Peter’s character in Season 3 of Once Upon a Time.
