Novel Breakdown and What's Next

The Breakdown:

A gloomy gothic city with Tudor-like architecture.

Thaddeus works with his father in a small bookshop in London, but at night he follows his passion as an amateur astronomer, spending hours over his handmade star charts. That changes however when he learns the truth of his mother, awakening the power of the prophet within him. Suddenly, he is plagued by riddles and flashes of an uncertain, dangerous future.

As news of his prophethood spreads, he is thrown into a world where an enchantress wants his soul, the advisor to the king wants to use him as a bargaining chip, and the only thing keeping him safe is Althea – a fiery mercenary who made a promise she intends to keep. By the end, Thaddeus will need to learn that family is always there to help.

SON OF ATLAS is a YA crossover novel that fits under the Historical Gaslamp Fantasy genre with a strong romantic subplot. It is LGBT+ and disability friendly. It can be compared to titles like A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab with its high royalty and inner city contrasts, and A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske with its magic and a set of characters that are thrown into something they never would have expected.

Here is where you can find more information about the world and the characters. Also, check out my socials, Spotify, and Pinterest boards.

What’s Next?

Once my term finishes and my revisions are done, I will begin querying agents! Hopefully, I can start by June 1st, but that may be pushed back depending on how my job goes. With that being said, querying comes with a lot of anxiety and waiting, so I will be starting a new project just to keep myself busy.

At the moment, I’m split between working on my sapphic retelling of Robin Hood called THE MERRY MAIDENS and a want to write a Western fantasy (I.E. cowboys and magic).

I also might be posting some content to AO3 so stay tuned in to my Instagram for more details about that!

I also plan to get more reading done over the summer. Here are the books I will probably write about as I receive them:
